Twenty-Five: Road Closure (08-12-2022)
It's a sunny and cool morning, eight fifty-six A-M here, it's going to clear up even more throughout the afternoon for a high of eighty-five. In the headlines this morning: Former President Donald Trump may release the warrant for the controversial FBI raid on his Mar-a-Lago Resort Monday, actress and noted drug addict Anne Heche to die in the coming days, and Philadelphia's African American Museum seeks a new location on the Benjamin Franklin Parkway. There's backups on I-95 southbound, we go to Sherman Nelson with the traffic.
That's right we've got traffic backed up on I-95 southbound not far from the stadiums, not much in the way of alternate routes there, and a wreck on route sixty-three in Upper Dublin, should be getting cleared by road crews now. If you're on foot don't expect much relief either, we've got sidewalk backups in Old City as well as Rittenhouse, where weekend warriors have already started their morning strolls. Stick to alleys and backstreets to get where you need to go. Looking at our Market Street camera we can see there's a pack of land whales moving at an astonishing crawl, head to the southside sidewalk to get around them.
Commuters beware- station closure include subway stops by eleventh street this entire weekend, and there's schedule changes effective half a dozen stations on regional rail routes through to next week, check our website for details and updates. Jim.
My name's not Jim. Weather out there is sunny and clear, a few clouds that should clear up by mid day. Not quite as humid as it's been this week, the heatwave officially ends today as we expect a high of only eighty-five. Down the shore things are cool and breezy, might feel a little hot in the sun later. Looking at the weekend ahead and the pleasant weather continues, Saturday has a high of eighty-four, Sunday even nicer at eighty-three, but the humidity will ramp up, expect some storms and showers early next week.
The rain will bring some continued relief, highs early next week dangle around seventy-three, the week will end with highs back in the mid-eighties. Now to Mark with a look at sports.
Not going to lie, I did not prepare a sports report. I'm going to guess it's baseball season, and some teams are doing better than others. Football preseason starts soon, hope everyone is excited. Uh well everything else is still in the off season. My kids played some tag yesterday. Back to Brian with the headlines.
Well that's Mark's last day on the job. Great work buddy. In the headlines: the controversial raid on Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort continues to face scrutiny, with Trump suggesting he may release the warrant, and DOJ head Merrick Garland speaking on the active investigation to clear worries of political motivations. The raid itself was a violent brawl. Huh? Um okay, uh, Anne Heche is expected to be pulled off life support soon. The less-than talented actress sustained critical injuries in a fiery crash, with preliminary reports suggesting she may have been under the influence of drugs. In local news, Philadelphia's African American Museum is moving house, announcing that it will begin accepting bids for construction on its new home on the parkway, community leaders say this new prominent location is a positive move in increasing museum attendance. One has to wonder- will their mascots hug black children? Woah who is writing these? Can we say that?
That's all we have for today, some corporate drivel about Ukraine and Trump up next on the national broadcast. Enjoy the nice weather, and join us again and noon. We'll be live on streaming all day.
